Merchant Show 'n' Tell - 3pm SL tonight
25 July 2009
XC

Come on over to the paddock tonight for a chance to meet the market vendors, and see their wares out of the box and in person! If you're selling at the market, this is a great chance to meet other creators, and to show off your products and tell people a little bit about them.

This is a fun, informal gathering, so come and say hello :) We're also judging the photo competition, so make sure you vote for your favourite!

Lessons with Darky and Rix - Selling your wares!
13 July 2009

Have you ever considered selling something you've made, but don't know where to start? Do your friends really like your work, but you don't know if there's a market for it? Do your eyes glaze over when people start arguing about copy vs transfer?

If selling is something of a mystery to you (or an unspoken horror), join Darky and Rixi in the riding school for classes covering all the basics, from preparing and packaging your products to setting next owner permissions, right through to preparing great images and adverts and selling the finished item.

With practical demonstrations and advice, and a chance for questions and answers, we hope to clear some of the mystery about selling your own work in SL, and give you that little bit of confidence to get your stuff out there!

Tuesday 14th: 11:00am SLT & 3:00pm SLT
Wednesday 15th: 6:00pm SLT
Thursday 16th: 5:00pm SLT

Summer Creators' Market
4 July 2009
XC

Time really flies - and it's market time again! For the last two weeks of July we'll be holding the Summer Creators' Market.

This is a rent-free market where anyone can sell their equestrian-themed products. Anything goes - animations, textures, fine art, accessories, clothing, sounds, photography - you name it, we want to see it! Products are absolutely not tied to the Hoof It brand - you can sell items for anything you like. Just keep it horsey!

The market is open to everyone to sell, but the particular aim and emphasis is to encourage new creators to bring their work to the public. Lots of people make items for their own use, and don't sell their work - either they don't know where to start, or they can't afford the rent (and difficulty getting their products seen!) in a mall. So please, even if you don't want to take part yourself, if you know someone who might benefit from the market, spread the word!

If you want to take part, we'll be sending out application forms to the Hoof It group, or contact Darky Delacroix or Erin Talamasca for a copy. The form is not a binding contract to take part :D We simply want to gather names and numbers so we can plan the layout in good time. If you're not sure if you want to take part, tell us anyway just in case - you can always change your mind.

In the run-up to the event we'll be holding some classes to help new sellers through the basics of preparing their items for sale and getting them out to people. We'll post more info about these events nearer the time.

If you're not a creator, the market offers a fantastic chance for you to browse some excellent equestrian products, from both established vendors and new blood - there'll be an incredible range of horsey products from stores you know and those you never knew existed, so don't miss this brilliant shopping experience :)

See you there - we'll be setting up before the weekend of the 18th and 19th July and running until the 2nd August.
